Wingecarribee is a picturesque region in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. It is known for its rolling hills and scenic landscapes, but it is also home to many distinguished and famous people. Here are just a few:

1. Hugh Jackman: The Hollywood actor was born in Sydney, but his family moved to Bowral in the Wingecarribee region when he was eight years old. Jackman attended Knox Grammar School in nearby Wahroonga before going on to become one of the world's most recognizable movie stars. He has starred in dozens of films, including the X-Men series, Les Miserables, and The Greatest Showman.

2. Don Bradman: Widely considered the greatest cricketer of all time, Bradman was born in Cootamundra, but he spent much of his childhood in Bowral, where he honed his skills on a makeshift cricket pitch in his backyard. Bradman's incredible batting average of 99.94 is still a record in the sport, nearly 75 years after he retired.

3. Judy Davis: The acclaimed actress was born in Perth, but she spent much of her childhood in the Southern Highlands, attending school in Mittagong. Davis has won Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for her performances in films like A Passage to India and TV shows like Feud: Bette and Joan.

4. Robert Helpmann: The Australian dancer, choreographer, and actor was born in Mount Gambier, but he spent much of his life in the Wingecarribee region. Helpmann was a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet in London and worked extensively in film, including a memorable role as the Childcatcher in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

5. Brett Lee: The former Australian cricketer was born in Wollongong, but he spent much of his childhood in the Bowral area. Lee was one of the fastest bowlers of his generation and played in more than 200 international matches for Australia. Since retiring from cricket, he has pursued a career in music, releasing several singles and performing in concerts.

6. Paul Kelly: The Australian singer-songwriter grew up in the Adelaide Hills, but he has called the Southern Highlands home for many years. Kelly has released more than 20 studio albums and is widely regarded as one of Australia's most important musicians.

7. George Miller: The Oscar-winning filmmaker was born in Brisbane, but he spent much of his childhood in the Wingecarribee region. Miller is best known for directing the Mad Max series of films, as well as Babe and Happy Feet.

These are just a few of the distinguished and famous people who have called the Wingecarribee region home. Their achievements are a testament to the talent and creativity that can be found in this beautiful part of Australia.
